The weight difference between my old rifle and my new one changed everything

My old setup was about nine pounds with optics and the new one is closer to six. Over the course of a long day in the mountains, that difference is not theoretical. You feel it in every step, especially on the way down.

It does make a big difference. As much as I enjoy shooting a Marlin lever rifle, I grab the Winchester 94 when hunting in the mountains. It’s much lighter and handier.
