What’s the one gun in your collection that you’d truly go to bat for?

If I understand the question, I can name one or two.
Steyr AUG. I’m one of the first to promote or stand up for them. Maybe that comes from guilt. I was a big AUG hater for quite some time before actually shooting one. I guess I feel I have to make amends for that.
HK P7. I’ve read so many articles, posts, and comments, and heard twice as many, citing negatives to the design that at best are exaggerations. I have to defend them.
M1941 Johnson. Similar situation. It seems a lot of people have firm opinions on a rifle they’ve never touched. I can’t blame them, since that comes from reading articles written by people who also have no firsthand experience. I know this because I was the same way.
I kinda fell into one, and the story of my first range trip foreshadowed how it was going to go from then on.
A couple of guys were looking at it, when one of the regular old-timers arrived. “Whatcha got there? What is that thing?”
I told him.
“Oh. They had a lot of trouble with those.”
We all met that with the same look. Ten seconds ago you didn’t know what it was, but now you’re enlightening all of us.

I’m partial to my Marlin levers. I suppose the .32 mags are my favorite.
