I’ve been thinking on this one since it started. The best I can come up with is I once worked for the CIA.
I think I can tell you without having to kill you.
Southern Air Transport (sort of like Air America) used a ramp and hangar near ours at ORD. Now and then, they would “borrow” one of us mechanics to help on something.
One day I was working OT, and when that shift ended I got to go over and help replace a fuel bladder in a C-130. Basically they needed an extra pair of hands a few times. I got a four hour block of work on a nice day and got paid cash on the spot. I think I got something like $140-150. This would’ve been 1987/88 when I was fairly new, so I would’ve been making around $14/hr straight time minus taxes.
Best of all, I got bragging rights.
That allows me to share my experience in the spook business with all you regular people on the outside.
