I love how my S&W 19-3 performs, but the bluing has definitely seen better days. I'm thinking of going for a black Cerakote finish. What do you guys think? Any recommendations for a good shop that can handle this?

The 19-3 is old enough that I wouldn’t do a thing about refinishing. I’d just keep it coated with Flitz or Renaissance Wax or something and otherwise leave it be.

Where are you in Indy?

If you really care about keeping your gun looking as close to its original state as possible, you might want to think about getting it professionally re-blued instead of going the Cerakote route. There are some great gunsmiths out there who focus on hot salt bluing and rust bluing, and they can work their magic to bring your worn S&W back to almost factory fresh. Sure, it can be a bit pricier than Cerakote and it might not hold up as well over time, but it really does a fantastic job of preserving the gun’s character and its value.

Come to think of it…
I don’t know if they still do it, but S&W used to reblue their own guns. I know they did within the past couple of years. They looked good and the price was pretty good also.
