Painting Synthetic Gun Stocks

HI all,

I have been looking into painting my rifle stock camo. I love the look of camo gun stocks rather than plain black. My current woods gun for deer is a Savage Axis II in 350 Legend. It has your standard black stock. I have looked into buying a camo replacement, but I can't justify the cost. (Yes, I'm cheap!) So, now I'm thinking of a paint job.

FWIW, I have done a camo paint job on an old shotgun. I turned it into my turkey gun. It has a wood stock. I painted the entire gun, "lock, stock and barrel." However, painting wood is different than plastic. So, I have my concerns.

Anyone done this? How was the look and feel? How long did the paint last?

Anyway, I'm looking for opinions and experiences.

I've found lots of YouTube videos on the subject. I like the ones below best. Both are from the same guy.

They are both good. The top one is unique. Maybe for a safari gun. I’d probably go with the more traditional bottom pattern.

Last one I did, I used paint for vinyl from the NAPA automotive paint store. It still looked good when I traded it off.
