What's the best barrel length?

I'm in the process of putting together a new AR and I'm kinda torn between going for a 14.5” pinned barrel or sticking with a 16” one. Most of my shooting happens at local outdoor ranges, so I'm really curious about what yall think. How do the velocity and maneuverability compare between the two?

I’m a big fan of the 16" barrel for range work. It really opens up your options when it comes to ammo and optics, plus you’re not stuck with a permanent muzzle setup. On the other side, if you're after something lighter and want that quick feel, the 14.5" is definitely a cool choice. Either way, you can’t go wrong, you’ll end up with a solid rifle!

If you’re looking for a rifle that feels as nimble as a carbine but still hits like a rifle, the 14.5” pinned setup is where it’s at. Just keep in mind, once you pick your muzzle device, that’s a permanent decision. Unless you’re okay with getting a bit hands-on with a grinder, you really wanna be sure about it.
