What do you reload?

When I started reloading my 30-30 I chose IMR 3031. It served me well. Then all of the shortages hit and I was hard pressed to find it. I have a supply of it now, but the price is triple what it was pre-COVID. I started using Leverevolution because it was available and $20 cheaper. I think it works very well and chronos about 250 FPS faster. I have not used to to take a deer. I've been focused on other calibers the last few seasons.

I usually can get range scrap and sort it for hard cast slugs. I just check the hardness with a Lee tester. I'm sure it isn't the most accurate, but gets me in the ballpark. I started powder coating a couple of years ago. I don't seem to have any issues with leading in my barrel.

Do you have good success with wheel weights?
If you ever decide to go back to hunting with the 30-30, I’d really love to hear how those Leverevolution rounds work out for you. I’ve been considering giving them a shot myself, and your experience could be the deciding factor for me!

One of these days...

Then my house burned down.
As it turned out, all of my loading supplies survived the fire and the fire department!
Im glad all your reloading goods survived. The loss of a house is tough to come back from.

A few years ago I moved “back home again in Indiana”. Starting over is a challenge. My reloading room replacement hasn’t become a reality, yet. I have a portable bench I set up for immediate needs. I’ll get there … Lord willing and the Creek don’t rise.

I look forward to hearing about your new room.
