I'm looking for a gentle option to help new shooters get acquainted with revolvers and I believe a .22 LR would be ideal. Has anyone used the Taurus 942 for this? How does it work for beginners?

Double action revolvers are so similar, I don’t think the differences would matter much as long as they can open the cylinder and eject the shells.

I trained mine on a single action revolver. I think they are a little simpler to operate. Simple to complex is always a good training approach.

I will toss in my 2 cents worth. I think using any .22 caliber is a great intro for a new shooter. When my wife wanted to learn to shoot, my lightest shooter was a 9mm. She did well on it. Now I have .22 cals in revolver and semi-auto. I wish I would have had either of them when she started shooting.

All of the shooting fundamentals are the same. It is just a lighter shooting firearm. So, I think your 942 sounds like an excellent choice for a beginner.
