My new Smith & Wesson M&P15-22

Got myself a 15-22 and I'm eager to add a red dot sight, a foregrip, and a flashlight. Do most rail accessories work with it? How can I confirm they’ll fit before I buy anything?

A 1913 picatinny rail is a universal size. Most things are labeled clearly for that system. I have picked up a couple Chinese knockoff rails that were barely undersized. I swapped out the adjustable side of the jaw on the accessory with another and they worked fine. You get what you pay for.

I mounted a red dot on my 15-22 and it makes more fun for the wife and grandkids to shoot. The only thing that I dont like about the red dot is that they don't form good sight usage as that red dot may not always work

I have a S&W 15-22. You may find there is some flex in the receiver and therefore the optic mounting rail. I was getting a wandering zero due to this flex, until I came up with a semi-fix. I ordered a cheap Picatinny rail riser (maybe 1/2” rise) off Amazon. Clamping it on, then mounting my scope to that, made it all stiffer.
