Glock has really established itself in the striker segment like no other company. But is their hold on the market solid, or could a competitor emerge to shake things up?

When they first came out, I was absolutely put off on the idea of a plastic gun. They have definitely proven the brand over the past several decades. I even broke down and bought one a few years ago. I’m still a traditional steel gun enthusiast, but I can no longer deny the Glock as a proven platform. It’ll be a real challenge for another company to dethrone their well established position. I think they’ll be the -compared to- brand for a long time to come.

Glock has a solid grip on the market but I wouldn’t label it as an unbreakable dynasty. They’ve made their mark by being incredibly simple, reliable and consistent across their models. At the same time, you can feel the competition edging in. Companies like SIG, CZ and Walther are pushing features that Glock seems to avoid and shooters are definitely aware of that.
