For Indiana deer, I like a .44 mag Marlin lever.

Here is my AR15 in .350Legend. She's dropped 2 whitetail with "drop in their tracks" for both kills. Its wearing an ATN X-sight without the IR illuminator which makes it legal in Indiana.

The one rifle I keep returning to is my .308 bolt gun. It has a smooth action, maintains its zero no matter the conditions, and it just feels perfect when I’m getting ready to take aim.

It’s a fine cartridge. When I moved back to Indiana, I parted with a few rifles I thought I’d never use again. My bolt rifles in 270 and 30’06 went to new homes. I kept my 308 “just in case”. No need for it here really, but if I venture for a special hunt, it will do the job with distinction.
