Any recos for a solid quality and budget-friendly AR charging handle? Trying to find under $120 handles.

Ive owned more than a couple ARs over the years. I’ve never found the mil-spec handle objectionable. But then I didn’t really have a choice on duty and wanted to practice the way I had to fight. To me they look like more to hang up in the brush.

What is the practical advantage with this modification?
Most of this goes to current teachings of operating the charging handle to keep a firing grip, etc. Instead of grabbing it with two hooked fingers from behind, you sort of hook it with a bladed hand on the left (latch) side. It gets pulled back more like an M1/M14 or AK.

If you look at how the CH latch is on a GI CH, when you operate it this way, a lot of stress, if not all, is borne by that tiny roll pin for the latch.

On most newer CH designs, the latch is enlarged so when unlatched, it bears directly against the CH to pull it back. The roll pin isn’t really taking much of the strain then.

Plus, the CH itself can be a little heftier than GI. I’ve not done it, but I’ve seen plenty bent ones from operating them this way.
