Any featureless AR builders?

Given all the different compliance options available, I wanna know how many of you have tried building a featureless AR from individual parts. Did you find it enjoyable to customize everything yourself or did it end up being complicated? If you had the opportunity, would you do it again or would you lean towards a factory option next time?
