.223 Rem. reports on Deer??

Anyone here have reports on .223/5.56 used for Deer hunting this last season??

Hmmm. Did they start allowing 223 as a hunting cartridge in IN? In Alaska, the natives use them for polar bear. In states that allow it, it works fine. Bullet selection is important with any cartridge, even more so using small calibers on big game.

Last fall, I shot a doe with a 62 grain soft point. I dropped her at twenty yards but I wouldn’t push that round past a hundred.

I don't know for sure, but I think?? the rules were changed due to the "Modern Sporting Rifle" (AR-15 styles) being so popular now..
At least they made the limit to 10 rounds in possession of the Hunter..

Yes, it is proven that the .223 Remington caliber will kill..Was tested 50-60 years ago on Humans in VN, so we know it will also kill Deer, but proper shot placement is a MUST...Bill.

Even more so when you accept the GC prohibits use of hollow points on the battle field. A good bullet choice would be even more effective on game.
