Dressing Down for the Range

I've been hitting the range more frequently and started noticing what people are wearing, which got me thinking about what's actually practical. I'm not talking about the full tactical gear; just regular clothes.

I've seen a lot of folks in camo, which seems a bit much for just running drills or plinking. It feels like it stands out in a way that's not really necessary unless you're hunting or out in the woods. Not that I'm judging—everyone can wear what they want—but it feels kind of extra when you're just at the range.

Lately, I've been favoring plain jeans and a simple shirt, something that's comfy and safe. I mean, no one wants to be that guy in sandals! I try to keep it low-key and not look too 'tacticool.'

Is it just me who feels like this? What do you guys shuffle into when you head to the range? Any major faux pas that I should avoid?

I wear what I wear most days in the climate of the period. I'm likely practicing shooting from concealment with a handgun or some other realistic procedure with a long gun. Whether it's your holster or your shoes, use what you expect to be using or wearing "for real".

I've found shirts that don't clear holsters well, jackets that get caught in rifle slings, and other problems that were best sorted out on the range.

I usually wear jeans and a season appropriate shirt. I'm usually shooting a rifle at the range, so my dress is unimportant.
