Ninety percent of my recreational shooting is with Cowboy Loads.
Favorite bullet mold by cartridge to follow.
- I use Trail Boss powder. Fill the case just under the level of a seated bullet or lower. Velocity is usually 800-1200fps, similar to original BP.
- I use cast lead bullets as close to the original factory weight as possible.
- I use Round Nose Flat Point bullets, or as close as I can get. They feed and perform well in lever actions and six guns.
- I use a lead mix to a target hardness of around 8 BHN.
- I lube with straight bees wax.
- I use no gas check below 1200 fps.
- I use bullet diameter 1-2 thousands over bore.
